drain the blood
this blogpost discusses blood and other gross bodily functions. turn back if it upsets you.
ive been victim of frequent heavy flow nosebleeds since i was a child (and it mightve been a leading factor for my anemia). they dont hurt nor does it ever get too medically worrying, given everything else about myself seems to be in working order, but its still not really funny for there to constantly be a chance of turning into a crime scene victim whenever it gets too humid outside.
i had my first bad nosebleeds earlier this year during a sunny day hike with friends. ive found that trying to soak it up with tissues or a tampon is about as helpful as trying to fix a leak with duct tape; itll just keep flowing. later that evening i was leaning over the camping ground communal bathroom sinks watching the blood drip, drip, drip for a good 10 minutes. it was quite bad.
same thing happened again this weekend. i got rudely woken up at about 6 am in the morning by the feeling of something slowly running down my face and ran to the bath before i could turn my room into a horror movie set. this time i didnt want to let the blood ruin the sink ive oh so recently cleaned so i had to pick the gross option and hang my head over the toilet bowl for a good 20 minutes. yuck. immediately went under the shower after that and triple scrubbed the toilet. wouldnt really help though as later the same day id be bleeding all over the place again.
theres no great thesis im trying to make here except that blood is in you and everywhere around you. some people dont have the luxury to be squeamish or particularly neat about their bodies since it loves to malfunction sometimes; i think we all ought to accept the bodily more.
